Paying It Forward by Giving Back
Duke Energy is proud to support the communities we serve through outreach, economic assistance, volunteerism and donations. Through our various programs and efforts, we’re doing things like:
- Empowering customers to save money while improving their home’s comfort and value through our Neighborhood Energy Saver program, which provides them with energy-efficiency upgrades at no cost. In the Carolinas, we’ve helped more than 73,000 customers save nearly 43 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) each year.
- Supporting new, sustainable transportation options for the Triangle area through grants aiding the development of electric buses.
- Helping the most vulnerable among us stay warm during the winter months with energy bill assistance, regardless of their home’s heating source.
Another way we give back is through the Duke Energy Foundation, which operates across North Carolina to invest in the health and well-being of communities where our employees and customers live. Through the Foundation and other corporate support, we contribute more than $20 million every year to communities and programs in North Carolina that help our state thrive.
Meeting the Energy Needs of Our Customers
Many of our employees work and live in North Carolina, so we can be found in communities across the state every day. This direct connection to our customers gives us an opportunity to be able to listen to people from every community we serve so we can respond in ways that address their energy needs.
It’s part of the reason we’re modernizing our energy grid and transitioning our fleet to include more clean energy. By developing more clean energy technology, working to preserve our state’s natural beauty and cultivating a talented workforce, we’re a partner in helping create prosperity for all North Carolinians. After all, the Tar Heel State is more than our headquarters—it’s where we call home.
